For everyone else, applications will open on 1 September 2026.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>15-19 year old protu!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Was your camp the best week of your life? Do you want to give others\u2019 the same<br \/>\nexperience? Become a junior counsellor!<\/p>\n<p>Every year, Protu needs 350 fifteen to nineteen year old, protu experienced, junior<br \/>\ncounsellors to help make the best possible camp experience. Junior counsellors work<br \/>\nwith senior counsellors together as a team, and they are responsible for planning the<br \/>\ncamp and organising it. There isn\u2019t a certain type of ideal counsellor, so all kinds of<br \/>\npeople are welcome and needed. The most important thing\/only requirement is that<br \/>\nyou\u2019re motivated, and want to take part in making a memorable week and sparking new<br \/>\nthoughts for your younger peers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As a junior counsellor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; You\u2019re responsible for planning the camp and facilitating different kinds of program<br \/>\nas a part of a team<br \/>\n&#8211; You have an opportunity to learn new things and skills which are useful in life, for<br \/>\nexample interactive, facilitation and project management skills<br \/>\n&#8211; You gain valuable volunteering experience. If you wish, you can also get an official<br \/>\njob certificate of working as a junior counsellor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s a camp team?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Each camp is organised by a team consisting of voluntary workers. Each team has<br \/>\ntwo senior counsellors, older than 20 years old, and five junior counsellors.<br \/>\n&#8211; In order to become a counsellor, you have to take part in two trainings (one of which is through zoom and self studying) during<br \/>\nNovember to February, and a team training which is held in April or May. In these<br \/>\ntraining sessions you learn about the content, aims and customs of Protu camps,<br \/>\nand practice facilitation skills.<br \/>\n&#8211; You need to be prepared to spend time on planning outside of the trainings<br \/>\n&#8211; Team members are NOT (except counsellors over 20 years) paid for counselling, but the trip to campsite is<br \/>\ncompensated for, and you don\u2019t have to pay for the food. If you want to become<br \/>\na counsellor, remember these:<\/li>\n<li><strong>Membership:<\/strong> Having been on a protu camp and being a member of protu are<br \/>\nrequired from to be counsellors. Therefore UA-, UVA- and VVA- applicants who do<br \/>\nnot have an active membership anymore, the office of protu will renew your<br \/>\nmembership.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A team role<\/strong> <strong>is required<\/strong> in order to apply for the trainings, and attending the<br \/>\ntrainings is a requirement to applying to a team in the spring when the team<br \/>\napplications begin.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your and your guardian\u2019s contacts are correct on <strong>your account<\/strong> on the website (https:\/\/protu.crmieportal.com, all counsellor applicants have a login). Don\u2019t make a new account, but instead ask for a new password if needed (it will arrive to the email<br \/>\naddress linked to your account on the portal)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Late August onwards:<\/strong> Apply for a senior counsellor role through Protu portal&#8217;s helpdesk and select &#8220;Tiimil\u00e4isroolin hakeminen&#8221;.<br \/>\nYou&#8217;ll find the right role type by taking a look at the instructions for signing up for<br \/>\ntrainings. When your role application is accepted, you&#8217;ll receive a notification to the<br \/>\nemail address linked to your account.<\/li>\n<li><strong>In September<\/strong> you&#8217;ll get an email reminding you to sign up for trainings and<br \/>\nadditional information about camp counselling.<\/li>\n<li><strong>October onwards:<\/strong> Sign up for trainings. If you&#8217;re applying to be a senior camp<br \/>\ncounsellor for the first time, read through this page before signing up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>November to February:<\/strong> 1) participate in the trainings required for your role type 2)<br \/>\nremember to fill out the availability form on time!<\/li>\n<li><strong>In February, once you&#8217;ve attended the necessary trainings:<\/strong> apply to camp<br \/>\ncounsel! You&#8217;ll receive additional instructions during trainings.
